An Online Dictionary for Tech Terms Associated with Computer Networks

extranet
DEFINITION:
An extranet is used by today's business networks to share portions of their private networks with their vendors and customers primarily for the purpose of selling products.
Extranets allow for more effective communications along the supply chain. Large corporations are replacing proprietary standard networks with extranets in order to more effectively share product catalogs, collaborate with other companies to jointly develop and use training programs, or provide services for other affiliates. Login and password identifications are required to access extranets.
