DEFINITION:

The initials, UBR, stand for Unspecified Bit Rate (ATM). With UBR technology, the throughput level of transferring data does not guarantee transmission speed – delays may occur during transmission.

The initials, uBR, also stands for Universal Broadband Routers (as seen with *Cisco network hardware). * The uBR7246 and uBR7223 are Data over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) compliant cable modem termination systems (CMTS)s. The uBR900, uBR904, and uBR924 are DOCSIS-certified cable modems (CM).
